Join us as we read A Blind Guide To StinkVille by Beth Varabel
"A Blind Guide to Stinkville" by Beth Vrabel follows the story of Alice, a young girl with albinism and blindness who moves to the town of Stinkville. In her old neighborhood, Alice was accustomed to her condition, using aids like magnifiers and canes. However, in Stinkville, she feels out of place and disadvantaged, struggling to navigate her new environment. Determined to prove herself, she resists the idea of attending a school for the blind. Instead, she enters an essay contest, aiming to showcase her capabilities. As she faces her own limitations, she gains a new perspective on herself, and her journey becomes a touching exploration of themes such as albinism, blindness, friendship, and community strength. The novel presents complex characters and tackles various challenges with sensitivity and heart.
We will be providing free copies to participants that register at least a week in advance, while supplies last.
