Mission

The Friends of Veterans Memorial Library supports Veterans Memorial Library in its mission of providing materials and services to educate, inform, and entertain all members of our diverse community. We raise funds through used book sales and other fundraisers, sponsor community programs and activities, and purchase items that enhance library experiences for all.

About

The Friends of Veterans Memorial Library is a nonprofit service organization that has supported our hometown library with funds and volunteer hours since 1982. We are an active group who believe in the importance of the library for the people of the Mount Pleasant area. Membership in the Friends means you appreciate the vital services which the library provides to the community. Join us to strengthen our library, and therefore, our community.

How can you help support your library?

We support the Veterans Memorial Library by providing funds for special projects, services, resources, and programs. We have provided funds for the Summer Reading Club, the BookPage, which highlights the best new books, and library programs.

The Friends raise funds to strengthen library resources and services. Through memberships we host an annual book sale in the fall, pop up books sales throughout the summer as well as books for sale year round in the main hallway of the Veterans Memorial Library.

DONATION

Your donation to the Friends of Veterans Memorial Library is tax deductible! You may use the button above to donate directly to the Friends online.  Or you may write a check made out to Friends of Veterans Memorial Library and mail it c/o Veterans Memorial Library, 301 S. University, Mount Pleasant, Michigan 48858.

Friends of Veterans Memorial Library Endowment Fund
You may also make contributions to the Friends of Veterans Memorial Library Fund at the Mount Pleasant Area Community Foundation.  This permanent endowment allows the Friends to make additional contributions to Veterans Memorial Library for projects, resources and services not covered in annual operating budgets.  Use the link that is the header for this section to learn more and make a contribution.

We gladly accept:

  • Books in good condition (paperback or hard covered books)
  • Good quality children’s books
  • DVDs
  • Audio Books on CD
  • LP and 45 records
  • Non-fiction books less than 10 years old

Things NOT needed include:

  • Pamphlets, magazines, and newspapers
  • VHS tapes
  • Cassette tapes
  • Anything dirty, moldy or falling apart
  • Textbooks more than 10 years old
  • Encyclopedias and reference books
