Free COVID Tests Available

Chippewa River District Library is offering free at-home COVID test kits as part of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Library Partnership for At-Home Test Program.

“We are heading back into the time of year where people are inside more and at greater risk of passing germs around,” said Corey Friedrich, CRDL Library Director. “So, we will see a rise in colds, flu, and COVID.”

Residents can receive up to five free at-home test kits from the library while supplies last.

“This program allows residents who may struggle with access to healthcare, lack the funds to purchase at-home test kits for themselves or their families,” said Friedrich.

At-home self-tests for COVID-19 are those that an individual can perform at home without the assistance of a health care provider. These tests offer fast results and may be more convenient than traveling to a testing center.

The MDHHS continues its partnership with libraries statewide, giving people another way to access free COVID tests.

Testing kits are available at the Help Desk, or individuals can call the library and pick up the tests from curbside pickup.
