Program Description

It's the longest day of the year! So what better way to spend it than reading?

Can we truly read ALL. DAY. LONG? Yes, we can! We will host a public "read-in" where participants can drop in during daylight hours and read their choice of book for at least 10 minutes or more. So show up with a chair or a blanket, get comfortable, and start reading. All participants will receive a unique commemorative decal, bookmark, and a voucher for a free book at a future Friends of the Veterans Memorial Library book sale. In addition, the Book Pedaler book bike will be on site with a great selection of books.

Readers may arrive and depart anytime between 5:21 am and 9:47 pm.

The first 5 participants will receive special CRDL swag and gift cards to Sleepy Dog Books. Coffee and doughnuts will be served to participants starting at 5:15 am. Participants reading within an hour of sunrise or sunset will receive a book light while supplies last. We will also draw $5 Gift Cards to Sleepy Dog Books on the hour.

The event will be moved to the Annex Meeting Room at the Veterans Memorial Library if inclement weather occurs.
