In times of economic difficulty more people turn to their libraries for free access to information and resources.  Computer usage increases as job seekers research and apply for jobs after discarding their home Internet to save money. Program attendance and circulation increase as people seek inexpensive alternatives for family entertainment.

Walking Tour....

You've arrived at Chippewa River District Library's New Main Branch, Veterans Memorial Library.  The parking lot is spacious, with plenty of places to park.  You take pride in a beautiful structure that reflects a growing, thriving community.  Finally, we have a library that has space and a place for everyone.

As you enter the library either from Downtown or from our neighbor ArtReach you are amazed at the changing artwork on display that showcases the artists of Michigan and around the country.  You have several options from the lobby you can stop for a quick snack in the Cafe, browse books in the adult bestseller collections, enjoy a magazine or newspaper in the quiet reading room, research your family tree, or finally get information on that home improvement project you've been planning.  You'll find all these things in the newly renovated areas of the library.

Maybe the kids need some information for a homework assignment or something to keep them entertained.  You'll find on our new second floor addition a wonderland for kids, babies through grade school.  With a storytime room that gives parents a place to gather and interact and finally a family bathroom to make life much more workable.

For the older kids we have a teen floor on the renovated mezzanine of the library.  Here teens can get together in a positive learning environment that meets their needs for study, information, research, and fun.

No matter what your interests are, the library has something for everyone!
